Requirements for every article

• Original content, written for WebPublish. If you have published the text elsewhere, say so when you submit.
• Factual claims need a source, and the source has to be checkable.
• Named people should recognise themselves in the account, and get a chance to respond where that is relevant.
• Conflicts of interest must be declared. We add them as a disclosure in the article.
• Use of artificial intelligence must be declared.

• Quality and structure
• Clarity of language
• Verifiability and sources
• Originality
• Tone and fairness
• Legal and ethical matters

Normal response time is three working days. During holidays it can take longer, and you will be told if it does.

Use of artificial intelligence

You may use AI as an aid for research and editing. Articles that are largely machine-generated are not published. You declare the use in the editor, and we show it in the disclosures below the article.

Corrections and updates

Errors are corrected as soon as they are confirmed. A correction that changes the meaning of a sentence appears as a correction note in the article, with a date. We do not remove errors quietly.

Labelling

Opinion is labelled as opinion. Partner content is labelled as partner content. Translated content names the translator.
