Four things that improved my photographs, after twenty years with a camera

None of them is about equipment.

I spent the first ten years buying things. The next ten learning to stand in the right place. The second decade produced far more usable pictures.

  • Get closer. Almost every photograph improved by removing half of what was in it.
  • Wait for the light instead of fixing it afterwards.
  • Take fewer pictures, but look at them more often.
  • Write down why a picture did not work. You repeat the same mistake otherwise.

Equipment did not become unimportant. It became less important than I thought when I started.

Noen har bruk for det du vet.

Det trenger ikke å være en stor sak. En forklaring, en erfaring, en advarsel du selv skulle hatt. Det er nok til å begynne.
