Every piece of advice I was given was about motivation. None was about liquidity in month four. That is where most people I know have stumbled, myself included.
I had saved for six months without income. It lasted nine, because I cut more than planned. But those months cost something other than money.

What I would do differently is not save more. It is agree payment terms before starting the work, not after.
